Short Description
Reporting to the Supervisor, SCADA Operations, an employee in this job will perform operational duties within the SCADA control centre for a variety of small to complex systems including monitoring, graphical trending, interpreting and evaluating information provided through the SCADA systems, and controlling operations to aid in proactive operation and maintenance of a safe water supply.  This employee will be required to assess diagnostic information and respond and react appropriately to issues and alarms as they arise in a timely and effective manner and to respond to routine customer inquiries or issues, receive notifications of service interruptions and assist with coordination of service interruptions communications to customers and other staff.  This employee will also be required to work different shifts.

 Job Duties
Perform operational duties within the SCADA control centre by using the SCADA system to its full capabilities for a variety of small to complex systems including monitoring, graphical trending, interpreting and evaluating information provided through the SCADA systems and controlling operations to aid in proactive operation and maintenance of a safe water supply; and provide remote monitoring support to Operations field personnel during regular and after hours activities ensuring compliance with established corporate and occupational health and safety procedures.

Respond and react to issues and alarms by filtering and examining alarms as they arise for a variety of small to complex systems and determining the appropriate course of action in a timely fashion ensuring compliance with established communication and response protocols and ensuring the appropriate field personnel are contacted and dispatched, as required, to deal with the situation; respond immediately to emergency situations in accordance with established corporate procedures to ensure an effective and efficient response; respond to routine customer inquiries or issues and direct more complex inquiries to the appropriate corporate staff for resolution; receive notifications of service interruptions, directing them to the appropriate corporate staff; and assist with coordination of service interruption communications to customers and other staff.

Operate and check the accuracy of computer applications; receive and distribute information on SaskWater activities which may affect the operation and security of the system; prepare logs, reports and forecasts in accordance with established corporate protocols; recommend changes and system improvements to facility operations and protocols; work with field personnel to assist with maintenance coordination and scheduled outages; and provide training and support on related work systems and processes to others as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications
To qualify, you will have a Diploma in Water Resources Engineering Technology or a similar technical discipline, and registration with Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT) as an Associate member.  Certification with SASTT as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) is required to be obtained.  Certification in Water Treatment 1, Water Distribution 1 and Wastewater Treatment 1 is required in accordance with the Operator Certification Board requirements or existing industry reciprocity agreements.  You have strong relationship building skills and approach your work with a high degree of responsibility.

Special Requirements:  The position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Record Check and a Fit for Duty test.

 Where the minimum educational requirement is not met, an equivalent combination of training, knowledge and experience will be considered.

A valid Saskatchewan driver’s licence is required.
