Dr Steve Hrudey

Conference Presentation:

“Ensuring Safe Drinking Water in the Face of Growing Information”

Dr. Steve E. Hrudey, CM, AOE, FRSC, FSRA, IWAF, FCAE, FEC, FGC (Hon), DSc(Hon), PhD, DSc(Eng), P.Eng.

Dr. Hrudey is Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta. He chaired the 2022 Royal Society of Canada Expert Panel on Wastewater Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 in Canada. Among 30 expert panels over his career, he also served from 2000 to 2002 on the Research Advisory Panel to Justice Dennis O’Connor’s Walkerton Inquiry into a fatal drinking water outbreak, on the Expert Panel for federal Minister Jim Prentice on Safe Drinking Water for First Nations in 2006 and he chaired the international expert panel on bladder cancer and chlorination DBPs in 2014 – 2015 for the Water Research Foundation, Denver. His research involving over 200 refereed journal publications, 12 books and 30 book chapters has focused on public health, environmental risk and ensuring safe drinking water. He has given dozens of workshops on ensuring safe drinking water for front line personnel in Canada Australia, the UK and the US. Dr. Hrudey was elected as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2019 and the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2017.

Brenda Robinson

“New Leaders for a Changing World“
Brenda is a speaker, trainer, writer and consultant. She is the founder and president of The Robcan Group. Her Bachelor of Arts was earned at Brandon University and her Masters of Education at Simon Fraser University. She has been addressing groups for over thirty years about communications, humour, laughter, positive working skills and wellness in general. Her workshops and presentations are in high demand. She has authored four books and created an Audio CD set to help people to develop these skills.Brenda grew up on a farm close to Minnedosa, Manitoba and continues to stay connected to her family there. She now lives in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Brenda has five children and 6 grandchildren. Brenda believes that we are on a life-long learning journey. It should be enriching, exciting, interesting and above all, it should be fun!
